Octtava Piano 2020 Chardonnay Mornington Peninsula
Intense citrus aromas of lemon rind and grapefruit with hints of crushed nuts and nectarine.
White peach and creamed honey on the palate, woven around a tight acid core that culminates in an intense and textural finish.
Enjoy with whole roasted fish with lemon and tarragon butter, chestnut and leek stuffed baked chicken, roasted butternut enchiladas

“A subtle, almost pared-back style with light layers of citrus, mostly a lemon-grapefruit combo, and gently spiced. The palate is tight but not lean as there are nutty, leesy flavours coming through alongside some butterscotch, spicy oak and lemony acidity. A refreshing style and lovely to drink”

VITICULTURE
The grapes were grown in the Merricks Grove vineyard on a north-south facing block planted in 1995. The Chardonnay clone is P58 and vines were pruned using a mix of cane and spur pruning.
WINEMAKING
Handpicked over several weeks from the Merricks Grove vineyard in the Mornington Peninsula for added complexity and balance. Hand sorted, whole bunch pressed and fermented spontaneously in a mix of new and old oak barriques. Matured on lees for ten months with each barrel carefully selected for its unique contribution to the overall blend.
