Octopus 2021 Vermentino Riverland
Lemon icy poles, somersaults, sunshine and vegan friendly
I have an identical twin called Favorita from Piedmont
Drink me when you have just done an accidental triple back flip off a cliff into the sea
Eat me with anything fishy that lets you catch it with your hands

Vermentino is one of our all time favourite crisp white wines. If you are someone who loves Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc or Riesling, then Vermentino definitely has to become your new go to wine. It’s full of lemon and sea spray. Think fish and chips! Or oysters. And what’s even better is that it’s low in alcohol - only 11.5% - so that means that you can keep sipping away in the sun, by the beach, at the pool all day long!
This Vermentino is super fresh and light in style but still has lots of complexity going on. The reason for this is that we made it in no less than 11 different vessels! Way more work involved in the making for us but we wanted to create a wine that was both light and refreshing but at the same time, with enough complexity in it for you to be able to take to a mate’s place or dinner party and have everyone tell you how awesome your taste in wine is without breaking the bank!
So… those 11 different vessels were made of tanks, barrels and plastic tubs. The tank was for freshness and citrus, the barrels (lots of different old French barriques) was for mid palate creaminess and the tubs were a mish mash of 100% skin contact Vermentino (plus a bit of Mornington Chardy and Riverland Fiano that somehow snuck in as well) which gave the wine texture and crunch plus hints of pickled ginger and dried orange peel.
