Rosewater, cherry, exotic spice and thyme.
Luscious, juicy, lively and ripe.
The grapes were sourced from the organic Bassham Vineyard in the Riverland. Val and Bruce Bassham have cultivated this beautiful vineyard since its purchase in 2000 and it is surrounded by 75 acres of natural flora and fauna. No weedicide, pesticides, herbicides, chemicals and artificial fertiliser are ever applied on the vineyard and only certified organic compost is applied.
Picked at 13 Baume, destemmed and tipped into a large open vat. Natural ferment with daily plunging, pump overs and sometimes just a day of rest for us both. And like always, there was some jumping in the vat every now and again to feel what was going on inside the ferment. A little post ferment maceration to extract more of the good stuff then the wine was pressed out, cold settled in tank for a few days before barrelling down. Maturation in old French oak hogs for 10 months before bottling without fining and only minimal filtration.
Alcohol: 13.5% alc/vol
So the young kraken cast aside his ferocious guise and, overcome with joy, he allowed himself to be forever captured by her gentle spell.
Indian lamb and potato curry
Youthfully charming and perfumed, the bouquet shows Black Doris plum, violet and dark spice aromas, followed by a juicy palate delivering elegant weight and silky mouthfeel, firmly structured by fine grainy tannins. At its best: now to 2025.
