Sam has been involved for the past 30 years in New Zealand hospitality, wine retail, importing and distribution, as well as running wine courses and master classes. All wines are tasted blind by Sam Kim in his home office, and the notes are solely written by him unless otherwise stated. Each wine is rated out of 20-points then converted to 100-point and five-star scales – two of the most effective and easy to understand rating systems.
Pristine and delightfully lifted, the bouquet shows lemon peel, crunchy apple, oatmeal and subtle jasmine notes, followed by a brilliantly focused palate that’s concentrated and richly textured. It’s beautifully balanced and harmonious with a lengthy mouth-watering finish. At its best: now to 2025.
Gorgeously fruited and fragrant, the wine shows dark plum, cranberry, floral and toasted almond characters on the nose with a light dusting of dark spice. It’s juicy and supple on the palate, displaying lovely weight and elegance together with silky texture and rounded tannins, making it highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2028.
A blend of grapes from McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills, this is wonderfully fruited and fabulously expressed on the nose showing blackberry, cassis, violet and cedar characters with nuances of game and warm spice. The palate displays excellent concentration and rich texture, beautifully complemented by loads of polished tannins, making it immensely drinkable. At its best: now to 2030.
It’s beautifully ripe and inviting, showing dark plum, sweet cherry, thyme, olive and roasted hazelnut aromas on the nose, followed by a succulent palate that’s plump and rounded. The wine offers upfront fruit richness with fleshy texture and fine-grained tannins, finishing silky and persistent. At its best: now to 2028.
